privacy policy.

effective September 6, 2026

Tuesdays runs on information you give us on purpose: who you are, who you want to meet, and what makes a night good for you. This page explains exactly what we hold, why we hold it, who else touches it, and how to get it back or get rid of it.

1.who we are

Tuesdays is operated by Folio Tech Inc. ("Tuesdays", "we", "us"), a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. This policy covers www.tuesdays.ca, app.tuesdays.ca, and the SMS messages we send you as part of the service.

We are the organization accountable for your personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Questions, requests, and complaints go to privacy@tuesdays.ca.

2.what we collect

Almost everything we hold is something you typed into the questionnaire. We do not buy data about you, and we do not scrape your social accounts.

  • Your mobile number. Your phone is your account — there is no password and no email login. We store the number itself and a separately salted, hashed copy used for blocklist matching.
  • Identity. First name, date of birth, and gender. Your first name and age are the only identity details another member ever sees.
  • Matching preferences. Who you are interested in dating, the age range you would date, what you are looking for, a comfortable spend for a night out, whether you drink or smoke, whether you have or want children, your religion and how much it is part of your life, and which of these are dealbreakers.
  • Logistics. Dietary restrictions and allergies, which Tuesday time slots work for you, how you rank first-date types, and whether you consent to being texted.
  • Compatibility answers. Roughly thirty-five slider and rating answers about temperament, habits, values, and taste.
  • Your own words. Free-text answers about your ideal Tuesday, what a form cannot capture about you, and what has not been working in how you have been dating — plus the artists, shows, and places you pick.
  • Your blocklist. People you never want to be matched with. We store a salted hash of each number, a masked fragment (so you can recognize the entry), and any label you add. We never store your contacts list, and choosing a contact does not give us ongoing access to your address book.
  • Identity verification results. Before your first date we verify you through Persona. We receive a pass or fail and a reference ID. We do not receive or store your ID document images.
  • Payment references. Stripe processes membership fees and date deposits. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. We never see or store your card number.
  • Date activity. Match offers and your responses, bookings, check-ins, no-shows, and your Wednesday debrief — including any report you make about how you were treated.
  • Technical data. Standard server and delivery logs: IP address, device and browser type, timestamps, and SMS delivery status.

3.sensitive information

Some of what we ask is sensitive by any standard: who you are interested in dating (which can reveal sexual orientation), your religion and religious practice, and your dietary restrictions and allergies (which can reveal health information).

We collect these with your express consent, given when you answer the question, and we use them for one purpose: matching you well and keeping you safe at the table. Allergy information exists so a venue never puts something in front of you that you cannot have. We do not use sensitive information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not disclose it to other members.

Every one of these answers can be changed or cleared from your account at any time.

4.why we use it

  • To match you. Hard filters (age, who you are seeking, dealbreakers, budget, availability) decide who is even possible; your compatibility answers and free text decide who is good.
  • To run the date. Book a venue that fits your budget, your date type, and both people's dietary needs, and send you the details.
  • To keep you safe. Verify identity, enforce your blocklist, staff a live human during every date, and act on reports.
  • To bill you. Membership, deposits, refunds, and account credits.
  • To get better. Debrief outcomes retrain how we weight matches. Your debrief is never shown to the person you met.
  • To reach you. Match offers, confirmations, day-of details, and service notices, by SMS.

5.what your date sees

Before a date, the person you are matched with sees your first name, your age, one line about who you are, and one line about why we matched you. That is the entire list.

They do not get your phone number, your last name, your questionnaire answers, your debrief, your blocklist, or anything you wrote in your own words. There is no messaging on Tuesdays, so nobody can contact you before the date.

Phone numbers are exchanged after a date only when both people say yes. If it is one-sided, or neither of you says yes, nothing is shared and the other person is not told what you chose.

6.who else touches your data

We use a small set of service providers to operate Tuesdays. They may process your information only on our instructions, for the purpose listed, and nothing more.

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Vercel — website and application hosting.
  • Twilio — sending and receiving SMS.
  • Stripe — payment processing for membership and deposits.
  • Persona — government ID verification.
  • Inngest — scheduled background jobs (the Sunday matching run, Monday booking deadlines, deposit charges and refunds).
  • Partner venues — receive a reservation under your first name only, a time, and a party size. Where an allergy makes it necessary, the venue is told about the restriction, not about you.

When you search for artists, shows, or places in the questionnaire, your query is sent through our own server to Spotify or TMDB to fetch suggestions. No account identifier of yours goes with it — those services cannot tie the search to you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information where the law requires it, to respond to a valid legal demand, or where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to prevent serious harm.

7.text messages

Tuesdays runs on SMS. When you enter your number we send a one-time verification code. Once you are a member, we text match offers, confirmations, and day-of details — this is service messaging, and it is how the product works.

You can reply STOP to any message to opt out and HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Opting out of SMS means we cannot send you match offers, so it effectively pauses your membership.

8.where your data lives

Our service providers store and process data in Canada and the United States. Information held in another country is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and law enforcement. We use providers that contractually commit to protecting your information at a standard comparable to what we promise here.

9.how long we keep it

  • While you are a member — we keep your profile, answers, and history so matching keeps improving.
  • If you delete your account — we delete your questionnaire answers, free text, and blocklist. We keep a minimal record (hashed number, ban or strike status) so that anyone removed for conduct cannot simply rejoin.
  • Financial records — retained as long as Canadian tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years.
  • Safety reports — retained as long as needed to enforce a ban and to protect other members.

10.your rights

Under PIPEDA you can, at any time:

  • See what we hold about you and get a copy.
  • Correct anything wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in your account.
  • Withdraw consent — pause matching in one tap, opt out of SMS, or close your account entirely.
  • Delete your account and the personal information behind it, subject to the retention rules above.
  • Complain — to us first, at privacy@tuesdays.ca, and to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if we have not resolved it.

Email privacy@tuesdays.ca and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify that the request is coming from the number on the account.

11.security

Access to member data is restricted to the people who need it to run matching, support, and safety. Phone numbers used for blocklist matching are stored as salted hashes rather than in the clear. Card data never touches our servers, and ID document images never reach us.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as PIPEDA requires.

12.age

Tuesdays is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, we check your date of birth at signup, and we verify it against government ID before your first date. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it.

13.changes

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and for anything that materially affects how we use your information we will tell you directly before it takes effect.
