terms of service.

effective September 6, 2026

This is the agreement between you and Tuesdays. It covers what your membership gets you, what it costs, what happens when someone doesn't show up, and what we expect from you at the table. Please read section 11 carefully — it's the one about meeting strangers.

1.the agreement

Tuesdays is operated by Folio Tech Inc. ("Tuesdays", "we", "us"), an Ontario company. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Tuesdays.

2.who can join

You must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be able to get to downtown Toronto on a Tuesday evening.
  • Give us accurate information about yourself. The whole product rests on it, and it is verified against government ID before your first date.
  • Hold one account only, in your own name, on a mobile number you control.
  • Never have been removed from Tuesdays for conduct.

3.what membership gets you

A membership means that each week we attempt to match you with one person we think you will genuinely like, and if we find one, we book the venue and the time.

We do not promise you a date every week. We would rather send you nothing than send you a bad match — some weeks the honest answer is that nobody in the pool is right for you, and we will tell you so.

We admit members as good matches become available for them, so joining the waitlist is not a guarantee of admission or of a particular start date.

4.fees

  • Membership is $35 per month in Canadian dollars, billed monthly. Founding members get their first month free.
  • Each booked date carries a $15 deposit, charged when books lock at 6pm on the Monday before your date.
  • Your deposit is returned automatically when both you and your date check in at the venue. Processing fees on the original charge are not recoverable and are absorbed by us.
  • Cancel any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal; we do not pro-rate a month already begun.
  • Account credits (from the guarantee or from being stood up) are applied against future invoices before your card is charged. Credits have no cash value except where these terms or the law say otherwise.

5.the monthly guarantee

If you are available and willing all month — active every week, no skips, no declines, no no-shows, and no pauses — and we get you zero dates, that month is free. By default we credit your next month; you can ask for a cash refund instead.

The guarantee is about our failure to find you someone, not about your availability. Pausing your account, declining a match, or not showing up voids it for that month.

6.skips, declines, and pausing

  • Pause any time, in one tap. Matching stops until you resume, and your spot stays yours.
  • You get one skip a month, no questions asked.
  • A second decline in the same month pauses your account for four weeks — no fee, we simply assume you are not really available right now. Contact support once and we will resume you early.

7.showing up

Confirming a date is a commitment to a real person who is getting ready to meet you.

The no-show clock runs fifteen minutes from the later of the reservation time or the first person's check-in. If you have not checked in by then:

  • You forfeit your $15 deposit. $10 goes to the person you stood up as an account credit; the remainder goes to the venue where it held a table for us.
  • The person you stood up gets their own deposit back to their card, the $10 credit, and priority rematch the following week.
  • A first no-show is a strike. A second is suspension.
  • If neither of you checks in, both deposits are forfeited and both accounts are flagged.

If the venue cancels on us, or weather or another event outside anyone's control closes it, both deposits come back in full and you get priority rematch.

8.how you behave

Every debrief asks how you were treated. Reports come straight to us, we act on them immediately, and bans for conduct are permanent.

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, degrade, or endanger anyone you meet through Tuesdays.
  • Misrepresent your identity, age, relationship status, or intentions.
  • Use Tuesdays to solicit, sell, recruit, promote, or advertise anything.
  • Contact someone after a date when contact details were not mutually exchanged, or contact anyone who has asked you to stop.
  • Photograph or record your date without their agreement, or post anything about them publicly that identifies them.
  • Show up intoxicated, or behave in a way that gets you removed from a venue.
  • Attempt to hold more than one account, or rejoin after a ban.

We can suspend or terminate any account for a breach of this section, immediately and without a refund.

9.your blocklist

You can name people you never want to be matched with, and we will never match you with them. Blocks are silent — the other person is never told — and they work in both directions once entered.

The blocklist works by matching hashed phone numbers. If someone uses a different number than the one you gave us, we cannot recognize them, so this is a strong safeguard rather than an absolute one.

10.venues

Dates happen at independent partner venues. They are not owned or operated by us and their staff are not our employees. We choose them, brief them, and book the table.

You pay your own bill at the venue. Your membership and deposit do not cover food or drinks. Anything that happens between you and a venue — service, billing, an allergic reaction, an injury on their premises — is between you and that venue.

11.meeting people is your own risk

We verify identity. We do not run criminal background checks. Confirming that someone is who they say they are is not a statement that they are safe, honest, or a good person. You are meeting a stranger, and you are responsible for your own judgment about them.

We do what a company reasonably can: government ID verification for every member, public venues with briefed staff, no contact before the date, no contact after unless it is mutual, a real person on call during every date, a private blocklist, and permanent bans for anyone reported. None of that removes the risk of meeting someone new.

You agree that you meet other members at your own risk. Trust your instincts, tell a friend where you are going — the app will help you do it in one tap — and use the help button on your date screen the moment something feels wrong. If you are ever in danger, call 911 first.

12.your content

Your questionnaire answers and free text stay yours. You give us permission to use them to match you, to write the one line about you that your date sees, and to improve how matching works. We do not publish them, sell them, or show them to other members.

Everything else — the Tuesdays name, the site, the app, and the matching system behind it — belongs to us.

13.ending it

You can cancel or delete your account at any time from your account page. We can suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we believe endangers another member, or that we cannot verify. Where the reason is not conduct, we refund the unused portion of the month.

14.disclaimers and liability

Tuesdays is provided as is. We do not warrant that you will be matched, that a match will be a good one, that a date will happen, or that anything will come of it. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to Tuesdays is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or your rights under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act.

15.changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you before they take effect, and continuing to use Tuesdays after that means you accept them. If you do not, cancel your membership.

16.governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court.
